What remote monitoring can provide
A compatible monitoring system can help make a reported condition visible while you are away from the property. Available information may include operating status, maintenance notifications, alarms, battery information or fuel information where supported. Capabilities vary with the generator, controller, installed hardware and service plan.
Ask GenTech about options such as OmniMetrix and Generac Mobile Link for your equipment. Choosing a platform is not just choosing an app: equipment compatibility, existing subscriptions, connectivity and the person receiving alerts all matter.
Questions to settle before subscribing
- Is the generator/controller compatible with the proposed equipment?
- What connection is required at this property, and who maintains it?
- Which data and alerts are actually available for this configuration?
- Who receives alerts, and how is contact information kept current?
- What subscription, hardware or installation charges apply?
- What happens if connectivity or the monitoring device fails?
- What response arrangement is agreed with the service company?
Monitoring is not a physical maintenance visit
An alert can point to a concern, but it does not change oil, clean an enclosure or establish every possible fault. Monitoring is an additional source of information alongside regular maintenance and diagnostic assessment. A lack of alerts is not proof that the entire backup-power system is ready.
Already have a monitoring system?
Tell GenTech the provider, generator model and what you want to improve. Transfer options, access and compatibility need to be checked before a change is proposed. Do not post account passwords or access codes in an inquiry. Monitoring uses a yearly subscription in the current public offering; obtain current scope and pricing directly.
Questions homeowners ask
Does monitoring guarantee the generator will start?
No. It can provide information on supported conditions, but cannot guarantee future equipment operation.
Can a seasonal homeowner use monitoring?
Discuss equipment and connectivity with GenTech. Remote information can be useful while away, but a clear service and response arrangement is still needed.
Is monitoring included with maintenance?
Monitoring is separate from the maintenance agreement. Ask about compatible equipment, subscription pricing and the agreed response arrangement.
