Describe the event, not a guessed diagnosis
Did the generator fail its scheduled exercise, attempt to start and stop, or show an alert during an outage? Those observations are more useful than assuming a battery, fuel or controller has failed. Several different problems may produce similar behavior. A technician may need an on-site assessment to establish the cause.
Read only information already accessible through the normal display or monitoring app. If the system appears damaged, leaking or otherwise unsafe, do not approach it to collect details.
Useful details for your call
- The generator brand and model, if already known.
- Your community/ZIP code and a contact number.
- What the equipment did and approximately when it happened.
- The exact message already visible on the normal display or app.
- The last successful run/exercise you remember.
- Any recent maintenance, prolonged running or change in behavior.
- Whether the issue is ongoing or occurred once.
Common concerns need equipment-specific assessment
A missed exercise, repeated shutdown or failure to start can involve more than one system. The diagnostic process considers the reported symptoms, history and equipment. This page deliberately does not prescribe reset sequences, electrical tests, fuel-system adjustments or part replacements for an unknown unit.
If the generator runs but expected power is not available, tell us that distinction. Starting the engine does not by itself demonstrate that the full backup-power arrangement is operating as expected.
Arrange a diagnostic conversation
Call GenTech during regular hours or explain the circumstances if requesting after-hours help. Scheduling and response depend on availability, storm conditions and service needs. For urgent service concerns, call to discuss availability. Read about the repair process or request service or call GenTech.
Questions homeowners ask
Should I keep trying to start it?
This page cannot determine what is safe for an unknown fault. Follow the equipment instructions and contact a qualified service provider; do not bypass safeguards.
Can I send a controller photograph?
A photo of information already safely visible may be useful through an agreed contact method. Do not expose private property details publicly or enter access codes in an inquiry.
Will routine maintenance fix the alarm?
Not necessarily. An active fault may require a separate diagnostic assessment before maintenance or repair is recommended.
